With the start of school right around the corner, I decided to revisit a post I've done on sites for educational games. This list, presented in alphabetical order, has a nice mix of subjects and grade levels that teachers can use with their students.

1. ABCya - A great site for games and mobile apps for elementary students.
2. Academic Skill Builders - A wonderful site with learning through the use of multi-player games. Also, there is an educational portal which allows for student tracking.
3. Arcoiris - A nice site for educational games in English and Spanish.
4. Braineos - Games based on flash card in a wide variety of subjects.
5. BrainNook - A fun site for students that focuses on English & Math. Also, there is a teacher portal with lots of resources for educators.
6. Bubbabrain - Lots of game for all grade levels that allows teachers to create games too.
7. Cackleberries - A virtual world filled with educational games for kids 3-7 yrs old in a safe environment.

Las 11 reglas de Bill Gates para los jóvenes

En una conferencia, Bill Gates trató de hacer ver a los jóvenes cómo es la realidad, al mismo tiempo que señaló a los padres de familia lo que ha ocurrido por sobre proteger a los jóvenes.

Regla Uno- La vida no es justa, acostúmbrate a ello.

Regla Dos- Al mundo no le importará tu autoestima. El mundo esperará que logres algo, independientemente de que te sientas bien o no contigo mismo.

Regla Tres- No ganarás US$5.000 mensuales justo después de haber salido de la preparatoria y no serás un vicepresidente hasta que con tu esfuerzo te hayas ganado ambos logros.

Regla Cuatro- Si piensas que tu profesor es duro, espera a que tengas un jefe. Ese sí que no tendrá vocación de enseñanza ni la paciencia requerida.

Regla Cinco- Dedicarse a voltear hamburguesas no te quita dignidad. Tus abuelos tenían una palabra diferente para describirlo: le llamaban oportunidad.


Regla Seis- Si metes la pata, no es culpa de tus padres, así que no lloriquees por tus errores; aprende de ellos.

Regla Siete- Antes de que nacieras, tus padres no eran tan aburridos como son ahora. Ellos empezaron a serlo por pagar tus cuentas, limpiar tu ropa y escucharte hablar acerca de la nueva onda en la que estabas. Así que antes de emprender tu lucha por las selvas vírgenes contaminadas por la generación de tus padres, inicia el camino limpiando las cosas de tu propia vida, empezando por tu habitación.

Regla Ocho- En la escuela puede haberse eliminado la diferencia entre ganadores y perdedores, pero en la vida real no. En algunas escuelas ya no se pierden años lectivos y te dan las oportunidades que necesites para encontrar la respuesta correcta en tus exámenes y para que tus tareas sean cada vez más fáciles. Eso no tiene ninguna semejanza con la vida real.

Regla Nueve- La vida no se divide en semestres. No tendrás vacaciones de verano largas en lugares lejanos y muy pocos jefes se interesarán en ayudarte a que te encuentres a ti mismo. Todo esto tendrás que hacerlo en tu tiempo libre.

Regla Diez- La televisión no es la vida diaria. En la vida cotidiana, la gente de verdad tiene que salir del café de la película para irse a trabajar.

Regla Once- Sé amable con los "NERDS" (los más aplicados de tu clase). Existen muchas probabilidades de que termines trabajando para uno de ellos

• Me llamo Alicia
• Tengo 15 años
• Me encuentro en el Caribe.
• A John lo trasladaron a Puerto Rico.
• Tiene que reunirse con geólogos y geofísicos.
• Quieren investigar si en la isla hay la posibilidad de encontrar petróleo.
• Hace mucho calor y humedad.
• Ming y yo queríamos conocer parte de la isla.
• Buscamos información.
• Decidimos visitar el Bosque Nacional del Caribe, el Yunque, es un bosque pluvial húmedo.
• Mi padre quería visitarlo también, así que tuvimos que esperar al fin de semana...Continuarán la historia.

1. Abrirán su libreta en Microsoft OneNote.
2. Seleccionarán una página nueva.  El título :Alice en Puerto Rico.
3. Escribirán la historia de Alice en Puerto Rico.
4. Cada uno de ustedes leerá la historia en el salón en la próxima clase.
5. Luego el grupo decidirá los sucesos que se podrían incluir en la historia final.
